Are you looking for the fastest production cars on the planet? I found them. Every car in this new Dragtimes video is incredibly fast. With 1,020 horsepower, the Tesla Model S Plaid is actually the underdog here, as it goes up against the 1,234 horsepower Lucid Air Sapphire. They both play second fiddle to Rimac Nevera. With 1,914 horsepower, it is the most powerful production electric car in the world.
All three line up on the runway for the half-mile race. That’s 4,168 horsepower, all in one place.
The video does not open with the grand finale. Super sedans race first, hitting 60 mph in about 1.5 seconds and covering the quarter-mile in the low nine-second range, according to Dragy data. The winner at the half-mile mark is the more powerful Lucid, crossing the line in 14.42 seconds at 186 mph. The Tesla also reached 186 mph but was a bit slower in the middle of the track, reaching the finish line in 14.56 seconds.
The second race pits Nevera against Sapphire, and actually, it’s closer than you might expect. Being on an unprepared surface, the 1,914-horsepower Rimac struggled to get the power to the ground. This is reflected in acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, giving Lucid the early lead. However, that was soon overcome, as Nievera flashed her way to a half-mile time of 13.84 seconds. Its speed at the finish line is 203.9 mph. As for the ruby, he lost. But given the disparity in power between the two cars, the margin is not as large as you might expect.
This finally brings us to the main event of this showdown, which takes place over two races. The first starts from the pits, and as before, the Rimac suffers from traction early on. Both cars move forward, but the Lucid Air Sapphire is an absolute beast. He drives Nevera for about half a mile, only losing at the end.
The second race starts at 40 mph. With no traction issues and the Hellcat’s extra horsepower compared to the Lucid, you can probably guess which car will win. But the battle for second place is a legitimate battle. It shows how sedans are set up differently in terms of acceleration and speed.
