WhatsApp for iOS gets drafts label for unread messages in chats and new home screen widget

WhatsApp for iOS has rolled out a new feature that allows users to check their composed and unsent messages without opening a specific chat. With the latest app update, a new Draft The label appears next to the chat that contains an incomplete message, allowing the user to quickly find it without having to scroll through the chat list. The instant messaging platform also introduced a new widget for the iPhone home screen that allows you to search for chats based on different categories.

Drafts label in WhatsApp

Drafts label (first spotted by WABetaInfo) was introduced with version 24.22.83 of the WhatsApp application for iOS. The official WhatsApp changelog indicates that draft messages are now indicated with a Draft label in the discussion list. This potentially eliminates the need to check each chat individually for any unsent or incomplete messages, helping users immediately identify conversations containing unsent or incomplete messages.

The feature was first reported in the beta version of the WhatsApp for iOS app 24.18.10.72 last month for registered users through Apple’s TestFlight program. With the latest version of WhatsApp, it would have been widely rolled out to all WhatsApp for iOS users.

Additionally, the instant messaging platform also rolled out a new widget for iPhone that brings new ways to sort chats from the iPhone home screen. Users can now select chats from different categories such as Recent, Favorites, Pinned or Frequently Contacted. This feature leverages the iOS Widget API for real-time data updates and enhanced system integration.

This feature is also rolling out with the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS. While Gadgets 360 staffers were able to check the availability of the drafts label, the new iPhone home screen widget could not be found. WhatsApp says its rollout could happen in the coming weeks.
