RIDGEWOOD — A car crashed into the garage of a Village home Sunday after a collision at West Saddle River and Terhune roads.
A witness told police that one of the drivers, in a Honda, was going “ridiculously fast,” about 65 to 70 mph on a 25 mph road, at 9:49 a.m. when he collided with the Tesla while making a turn. to Terhune Road, according to police records.
The collision sent the Tesla into the garage of a single-family home at 471 W. Saddle River Road. The Ridgewood Fire Department had to remove the vehicle from the garage to remove the trapped driver, who was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Both cars had to be towed. The garage sustained “structural and surface damage,” the police report said.
The Honda driver was summoned for traffic violations.
The grass field proposal has been reviewedRidgewood is reviewing Zabriskie-Schedler House turf field application to New Jersey. What has changed?
The damaged house is located across West Saddle River Road from the historic Zabriskie-Schedler House, where a multi-purpose sports field and parking lot are proposed on the 7-acre site. Area residents have argued that the location is unsuitable for playgrounds in part because drivers often fail to slow down when exiting Route 17 north onto West Saddle River Road. In Sunday’s collision, both vehicles were heading south.
The playground project was delayed due to questions about the dirt fill accumulated at the site, the 1,000-foot berm along Route 17, and possible Revolutionary War-era artifacts buried on the property.
