New Delhi, November 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Apple’s iPhone 15 became the best-selling smartphone globally in the third quarter (Q3) of this year, followed by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, according to a report released on Thursday.
Samsung maintained its largest presence in the global top 10 best-selling smartphones list with five spots, followed by Apple with four spots and Xiaomi with one spot, according to Counterpoint Research’s global phone model sales tracker.
While Apple’s share of the top 10 list declined slightly, Samsung’s presence grew to keep the combined market contribution of the top 10 smartphones at around 19 percent.
“The growing consumer preference for high-end smartphones is gradually narrowing the market share gap between the basic iPhone variants and the Pro variants,” the report stated.
It is worth noting that for the first time in the third quarter, the Pro versions in the third quarter contributed half of the total iPhone sales. This shift helps Apple increase sales of higher-value devices.
“For the first time in Q3 since 2018, the Galaxy S series variant entered the top 10. The top 10 models accounted for 19 percent of global smartphone market sales in Q3 2024,” the report said.
Moreover, consumers are choosing the latest iPhones, especially in emerging markets, which further contributes to Apple’s higher value sales.
This trend is supported by attractive financing plans and trade-in offers, making the latest iPhones accessible to a wide range of income groups.
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 maintained its position in the top ten in Q3 2024 for the third quarter in a row. Also, for the first time in Q3 since 2018, the Galaxy S series variant entered the top 10.
“Apple and Samsung are strengthening their premium positions with Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI, which will help them continue to dominate these rankings. Both brands are leveraging GenAI as a differentiator in the premium segment,” the report said.
