Aprilia Tuareg 660 listed on India website. Launch imminent?

  • Aprilia Tuareg 660 shares its engine with the RS660 and Tuono 660.
The Tuareg 660 has been on sale for quite some time now in the global market.

Last year, Aprilia stole the hearts of many enthusiasts with the launch of RS 457 in the Indian market. It now seems like the company is planning to bring the Tuareg 660 to India. This is because the brand has listed the motorcycle on its India website. The Tuareg 660 is an adventure tourer which is a segment that is quite popular right now because of its do-it-all nature. As of now, the launch timeline is not confirmed.

Powering the Tuareg 660 is the same 659 cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that is doing duty on RS660 and Tuono 660. It puts out 79 bhp of max power and 70 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox on duty is a 6-speed gearbox that gets a quickshifter as an optional extra. It is important to note that the engine has been detuned for the adventure tourer because, on the Tuono 660 and RS660, the same engine churns out 100 bhp and 67 Nm. The engine has been retuned to produce more power and torque in the lower and mid-range of the rev band.

Tuareg 660 is offered in three colour schemes – Atreides Black, Canyon Sand and Dakar Podium. Being an adventure tourer, there is a large windscreen in the front, spoked rims, a flat seat with a large fuel tank and an upswept exhaust. The ground clearance is rated at 240 mm which is more than enough to tackle rough obstacles and the seat height is of 860 mm which could be a bit on the higher side for most Indian riders.

The motorcycle comes with four riding modes, two of which are customisable (one dedicated to off-road riding). ABS can be deactivated at both wheels or only the rear. APRC system or Aprilia Performance Ride Control consists of Traction Control, Cruise Control, Engine Map and Engine Brake. All of this is accessible through a 5-inch TFT screen.
