Joe Biden said: “What America saw today is Kamala Harris, whom I know and admire greatly.”
Joe Biden has broken his silence on Kamala Harris’ electoral loss in 2024. In a statement shared on X Hours after Donald Trump’s win, Biden wrote: “What America saw today is the Kamala Harris I know and deeply admire.”
“Her story represents the best of America’s story.”
“Under extraordinary circumstances, she stepped forward and led a historic campaign that exemplified what is possible when guided by a strong moral compass and a clear vision,” Biden, who called Harris “a tremendous partner and public servant full of integrity, courage, and character,” wrote. For a nation that is freer, more just, and full of more opportunities for all Americans. As I said before, choosing Kamala was the first decision I made when I became a presidential candidate in 2020. It was the best decision I made. Her story represents the best of America’s story. And as she made clear today, I have no doubt that she will continue to write that story.
“You will continue to fight with purpose, determination and joy. She will remain a hero to all Americans. “Above all, she will continue to be a leader our children look up to for generations to come as she makes her mark on America’s future,” he added.
Meanwhile, reports claimed that Trump spoke with Biden by phone after his historic victory. A campaign spokesman said Trump “looks forward” to meeting Biden at the White House.
“President Joe Biden called President Donald J. Trump to congratulate him on his victory and extended an invitation to the White House to ensure a smooth transition between the current administration and the next administration,” Stephen Cheung, Trump campaign communications director, said in a statement. The New York Post reported.
Harris delivered a 10-minute concession speech at Howard University in Washington, D.C., her alma mater, after Trump was declared the winner. She said: “Although I recognize this election, I do not acknowledge the battle that fueled this campaign.”
