Elon Musk praises Nick Bosa for paying a fine for wearing a MAGA hat before Trump won the election

San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa was declared an election hero by conservatives after he tossed a “Make America Great Again” hat during a postgame interview on October 27.

On Saturday, it was announced that Bosa had been fined $11,255 for the stunt, but the punishment prompted Trump supporters to celebrate Bosa.

Elon Musk responded to news of Bosa’s fine in a post on X, celebrating the defensive end with fire and American flag emojis.

Musk was one of Trump’s most important allies in his presidential campaign.

Musk pumped at least $130 million into Trump’s campaign efforts after the former president’s assassination attempt, and financed a major campaign operation in a swing state with a focus on the battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Musk is not alone in supporting Bosa following news of the fine. Legions of NFL fans posted on social media in support of the 49ers passing.

“Nick Bosa gets it. Standing up for what’s right is always worth the cost,” one fan wrote on X.

Others were quick to criticize Bosa for tipping the hat at all. One critic pointed to the fact that Bosa refused to clarify his position when asked about the hat after the game.

“He is a coward. He ran away from his own platform when they asked him to explain,” the critic wrote.

While speaking to reporters, Bosa was asked about his decision to wear the pro-Trump hat, and he said he “won’t talk too much about it,” but only said it was “an important time.”

Speaking to the media the day after the election, Bosa had no regrets.

“It was worth it,” Bosa said before being fined.

Former Chicago Bears player Brian Urlacher offered his support to Bosa, commenting on Bosa’s Instagram post that showed a collection of photos, including the moment he showed off a Trump hat.

“MAGA,” Urlacher wrote in the comments section, along with two American flags.

Meanwhile, Robert Rivas, who serves as the 71st Speaker of the California State Assembly, called for trading the Bossa.

“hope [49ers CEO Jed York] Trades Nick Bosa to Mar-A-Lago. “As a lifelong 49ers fan, I can say I’ve seen enough of Bosa in California.” Rivas posted on X.

Bosa isn’t the only Trump supporter in the league. Kansas City Chiefs forward Harrison Butker also endorsed Trump earlier this year.

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has not officially endorsed any candidate, but his mother has publicly supported Trump. Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, liked the posts supporting Trump on social media.
