iPhone 15 is the best-selling smartphone in the world

iPhone 15 is the best-selling smartphone in the world

Despite approaching its one-year anniversary, the iPhone 15 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in Q3 2024. The iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro held second and third place, respectively.

In total, four iPhones were among the best-selling smartphones in Q3 2024.

The iPhone 15 lineup saw strong demand in Q3 2024

iPhones are among the most popular smartphones in the world, dominating the sales chart in almost all countries. iPhone sales typically slow in the third quarter as consumers postpone their purchases in anticipation of the launch of new iPhones. However, in recent years, iPhones have enjoyed strong demand even during the June-September quarter.

Latest report from Counterpoint Research It reflects this, with iPhones occupying the top three spots on the list of best-selling smartphones in the world in the third quarter of 2024. The iPhone 15 was the most in demand, accounting for 3.6% of the market. This was followed by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, Apple’s most expensive phones.

More importantly, the report claims that for the first time ever, iPhone Pros accounted for half of iPhone sales in Q3 2024. This helped push Apple’s average selling price (ASP) higher. This is not surprising, especially since the iPhone 15 Pro versions have dominated shipments since their launch last year.

Samsung devices dominate the list, but Apple is still at the top

Despite the strong performance of the iPhone in the third quarter of 2024, the results are not as good as they were in the third quarter of 2023. Last year, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 occupied the top four spots, which is not the case this year. Apple has seen its market share decline slightly, thanks to its main competitor, Samsung.

Samsung’s Galaxy devices occupied five out of 10 slots, although with the exception of the Galaxy S24, the others were all budget models. On the bright side, this is the first time since 2018 that a Galaxy flagship has enjoyed such strong demand in the third quarter of the year. Demand usually drops a few months after launch.

The Xiaomi Redmi 13C, another budget phone, was the only non-Apple and Samsung device to make the top 10 list.
