- Mark Cuban, a key replacement for Harris, congratulated Trump in a post on X before the race was called.
- At the time, Trump was on the verge of capturing Pennsylvania, which was inevitable for Harris.
- Cuban also congratulated Elon Musk, who was a major donor to Trump and a strong supporter of the Republican Party.
Votes are still being counted, but Mark Cuban, a leading surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, has called the race in favor of her rival, former President Donald Trump.
“I won fair and square,” Cuban wrote on X on Wednesday morning. “Congratulations to @elonmusk too. #Godspeed.”
Cuban initially endorsed President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign. He switched his support to Harris after she became the Democratic nominee.
The “Shark Tank” star has been busy campaigning for Harris, appearing at rallies in swing states like Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Cuban isn’t the only one who thinks Trump is headed for the White House again.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Elon Musk, one of Trump’s most vocal supporters, said the former president had been given “a crystal clear mandate for change.”
At the time of Cuban’s tenure, Trump was clearly favored for the White House, having notched two key victories in battleground states and a lead in other battleground states.
Harris will not address her supporters at Howard University on Tuesday night, Cedric Richmond, co-chair of the Harris-Walls campaign, said around 1 a.m. ET. Harris will deliver her remarks at Howard University on Wednesday morning instead, Richmond said.
“We still have votes to count. We still have states that haven’t been counted yet. We’re going to continue to fight overnight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every vote is spoken,” Richmond said.
Representatives for the Cuban and Harris campaigns did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
