New group of Chinese astronauts begins lunar mission training in Beijing

According to a China Daily report, the astronaut cohort includes representatives from Hong Kong and Macau. Since arriving at the China Astronaut Center on August 8, the two recruits have participated in specialized sessions on topics such as the history of China’s space program and Mandarin language classes. Lin noted that both showed great enthusiasm and fit well with the team.

Unique selection process for fourth generation astronauts

The recent astronaut selection process, launched in October 2022, was finalized in June this year with a diverse group of 10 astronauts: eight are spacecraft pilots, while two are scientific payload specialists, chosen specifically in Hong Kong and Macau.
