In the third quarter of this year, Samsung was able to enter one of its flagship devices, the Galaxy S24, into the top 10 smartphones sold globally, a rare achievement.
When looking at the list of the top 10 smartphones sold globally, the list is generally dominated by several iPhones and Samsung’s budget-focused Galaxy A devices. It’s not often that a flagship Android phone makes it into the top 10, but that’s what Samsung managed to do this latest quarter.
according to Counterpoint ResearchThe best-selling smartphones globally in Q3 2024 were the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 15 Pro. This was followed by four Samsung devices – Galaxy A15 4G, Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy A35 5G, and Galaxy A05.
The iPhone 14 and Realme 13C 4G rounded out the top ten, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S24 in tenth place. This is the only major Android phone on the list, with everything else powered by Android on that list falling under $400. In the same quarter last year, no Android device worth more than $500 made the top 10, with the Galaxy A54 being the most expensive in seventh place.
While Android devices still make up the majority of the global market, this look at the top 10 devices is a good reminder that the vast majority of them fall on the less expensive end of the spectrum. High-end and premium Android devices generally don’t make much of an impact.
It’s also interesting to note that it was specifically the base Galaxy S24 that managed to make it into the top ten. Previously, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra was the best-selling phone of the flagship trio, so that suggests the base model was considerably more popular. In recent months.
