Volkswagen recalls more than 114,000 Beetle and Passat vehicles with Takata airbags

Volkswagen has decided to recall approximately 115,000 Beetle and Passat vehicles due to potentially serious defects in the airbag system.

According to A Reminder notification Report to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Last week, some Volkswagen vehicles may have driver-side air bag inflators with the potential to explode, posing a risk of injury to drivers and passengers.

Problems with the driver’s side airbag

according to NHTSA Notice, The 114,478 affected vehicles have a driver-side front air bag inflator with fuel that can degrade over time from exposure to high humidity, high temperatures, and riding in high temperatures. This could cause the blower to explode, hitting the driver or other passengers with sharp metal fragments and causing serious injury or death.
