Yahoo Mail is getting a makeover. Last week, the company announced that it was redesigning the app with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI). It now offers new features such as summarizing messages and helping users compose emails, as well as allowing them to sort and categorize their emails. Apart from AI features, the app also introduces a messaging-inspired interface and gamification tools to make the in-app experience more engaging. Calling it an AI-powered inbox, Yahoo now offers users AI-generated one-line email summaries. Summaries are displayed in a preview window and are accompanied by suggested actions that include response suggestions. The company claims that this method will allow users to quickly respond to emails that might usually waste their valuable time.

Other options available in the Quick Actions interface include options to view invoices, access verification codes, track packages, view images and attachments, add events to calendar, RSVP to invitations and more . Additionally, users can also customize their notifications to choose email categories that are important to them.

When it comes to the interface, Yahoo Mail has opted for a messaging app-like experience where users can quickly access a thread and reply with just a few clicks. It also offers AI functionality that can adjust the tone of a message and make it more professional, friendly, formal, or concise. The company also allows users to organize their primary inbox. Users can sort them by important messages, organizing emails by sender, content and subjects. Additionally, users can also unsubscribe from a sender’s emails and delete user messages.

Yahoo has also included a gamification feature in the Mail app. The company added prompts to ask users to delete, archive, or mark emails as read. Using visual prompts allows you to complete the action with just one click. The company calls it playful inbox cleaning.

Finally, the new Yahoo Mail app allows users to link multiple email accounts. This means users can access the app’s email management features without needing to open a new account. Popular email clients such as Gmail, Outlook and other email providers are compatible with the app.
